How Source Protection Keeps a Playlist Private
Sharing a device with family doesn't mean every source has to be open to everyone. Here's how per-source protection works.
When a source is shared — a family playlist someone else manages, or a personal provider you'd rather keep separate — you don't necessarily want anyone picking up the device to be able to switch straight into it. Source protection solves that at the source level, not the whole app level.
How it works
Where source protection is available, you can mark an individual source as protected. Switching into that specific source then requires your password — your other, unprotected sources stay exactly as easy to reach as before. It's scoped to the source, not a blanket lock on the whole app.
Why per-source, not one global lock
A single app-wide lock is all-or-nothing: it protects everything or nothing. Per-source protection matches how people actually use multiple sources — a kids' or family playlist might stay open, while a personal or work-related source stays behind a password, all on the same device.
